Anniversaries in Geneva, 1959

Item consists of an offprint from the Summer 1959 issue of the Dalhousie Review (pages [208]-218), containing the text of an address delivered by President Alexander Enoch Kerr about the the recent celebration of three different anniversaries related to the life and activities of John Calvin in Geneva, Switzerland in the sixteenth century.

Copy of the Mary Celeste 1872 salvage hearing in Gibraltar

Item consists of a facsimile of the original December 18, 1872 court document regarding the mystery of the Mary Celeste, undertaken at the Vice Admiralty Court of Gibraltar, before Sir James Cochrane Knight, Judge and Commissary, and collected in the 1970s by Irving Deale.

Item is a print of a drawing of the brig Europa. Writing on back reads: Brig "Europa" of Maitland, N.S. entering (port of) Leghorn 1858. Alexander MacDougall, master. The above Alex MacDougall was father of Captain Everett MacDougall.

Item is a print of a drawing of the barque Daylight. The writing on the back states that the ship was built in Port Glasgow, Scotland, in 1902 by Russell and Co. Imprinted on the front mount is "Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year."

Beaver study correspondence

File is loosely organized into two sections: Nova Scotia beaver and Norway beaver. Both sections contain correspondence to and from government officials, biologists, academics, and industry consultants regarding research for and publication of Alexander Leighton's study on beaver mental characteristics. The Norway section also contains excerpts from Norwegian newspapers. There is also a set of handwritten notes titled "Outline for study of the Beaver: D. Cross & A.H. Leighton."

File consists of records related to the planning and presenting of guest lectures, presentations, readings, and talks organized through the Dalhousie Art Gallery for the period of 1968-1970. Records primarily relate to the planning of a lecture by Andrew Hudson.

Matheson's grave at the mission house in Maré, Loyalty Islands [New Caledonia]. Matheson, of Pictou County, traveled with John Paton to the South Pacific in 1858, and passed away in 1862.
