Item consists of an offprint containing the text of an address delivered by President Alexander Enoch Kerr to the Annual Meeting of the Western Section of the Alliance of Reformed Churches, held in 1948 in Buck Hill Falls, Pennsylvania, about the integration of Reformed Church/Calvinist principles into modern educational methods.

Records relating to the history of the Nova Scotia Agricultural College and agriculture in Nova Scotia

Subseries contains records created by the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, records about the NSAC, and records pertaining to agriculture in Nova Scotia. Included are documents on educational resources, correspondence, memos, newspapers, clippings of articles, newsletters, new building plans, speech notes, a bound copy of "The history of the NSAC", agricultural education plans in the province, and the 75th anniversary committee file.

Feeling Yes, Feeling No development and production records

File contains records created and collected by Christopher Heide documenting Mulgrave Road Theatre's 1989 production of Feeling Yes, Feeling No, which was developed by Green Thumb Theatre in Vancouver in the early 1980s. Records, which were removed intact from a binder, include reports, notes, scripts, exercises; rehearsal notes and stage book.

Working Theatre Project administrative records

File includes records documenting Mulgrave Road Co-op Theatre's Working Theatre Project, which used theatre structures and methodologies with an adult education approach to literacy upgrading. Records include correspondence; reports; notes; a contract with Christopher Heide; budgets; project summary; and a program for "Time Out," the play produced by program's participants.

File contains three copies of a manuscript—one marked "Director's Notes"— for a play put on by the students of Attagoyuk High School, in Pangnirtung, where Chris Heide was living and working. There is also a list of northern youth drama contacts, a 6-page story script and a photocopy of two notecards containing Inuktitut script.

File contains a manuscript marked "working copy," stage maps with blocking lines, a costumes and casting list, and a scene breakdown for a play written by Chris Heide for Mermaid Youtheatre.

Inkeles and Murphy data comparisons

File contains a computer printout dataset of frequency distribution comparison between Jane Murphy's and Alex Inkeles' data. Also includes copies of several of Inkeles' published articles: "The fate of personal adjustment in the process of modernization," "The OM scale: a comparative socio-psychological measure of individual modernity," "Some social psychological effects and noneffects of literacy in a new nation," "The modernization of man," and "Making men modern: on the causes and consequences of individual change in six developing countries."

Statistical tests on change and disorder in Yoruba men for Jane Murphy's ethos paper

File contains computer printouts of calculations for literacy statistics. Also includes copies of publications dealing with range tests: "Multiple range and multiple f tests" by David B. Duncan, "Extensions of multiple range tests to group means with unequal numbers of replications" by Clyde Young Kramer, and "Multivariate statistical programs" by Dean J. Clyde, Elliot M. Cramer, and Richard J. Sherin.

Notes on academic degrees and education in Nigeria

File contains research notes on the history of schools and public education in Nigeria. Comparisons are made between British and Nigerian degree systems. File also includes correspondence between researchers and the Nigerian Consulate in New York regarding Nigerian schooling and the place of women therein.

Statistical data on education in Nigeria

File contains three booklet reports on aspects of Nigerian education. Titles are "Investment in education: the report of the commission on post-school certificate and higher education in Nigeria" (1960), "The Nigerian Association of University Women survey of women's education in western Nigeria" (1963), and "Ministry of Economic Planning and Community Development annual abstract of education statistics" (1961)."

Data analysis

Subseries includes data for and analyses of socioeconomic aspects of Yoruba women's lives (education, migration, social class, health, children, husbands, religion, family, etc.). The 1963 data seems to be part of another study, referred to in several files as "The 1963 study on the role of Yoruba women," that either piggybacked off the Cornell-Aro study or was somehow included as a sub-project.

Alexander Leighton and Jane Murphy fonds

Fonds contains records created and collected primarily by Alexander H. Leighton, with some by Jane Leighton Murphy. Documents span from Leighton's studies at Princeton, Cambridge, and Johns Hopkins univerities, through his government employment in World War II, and his teaching career at Cornell, Dalhousie, and Harvard. The majority of records are related to the 1961 Cornell-Aro Mental Health Research Project and the 1963 Study on the Role of Women, both based in Nigeria, and the Stirling County Study, based in Nova Scotia. Record types include correspondence, manuscripts, grant applications, reports, photographs and slides, medical and academic records, method and guidebooks, reviews, offprints and publications, teaching and course materials, and surveys and interview transcripts.

A sous-fonds contains records documenting the migration of Alexander Leighton's parents from Ireland to the United States and their subsequent life in Philadelphia. The sous-fonds contains extensive correspondence between extended family members over the course of a century, as well as photographs, diaries, wills, family trees, memoirs, and Alexander Leighton's personal correspondence.
