Atlantic Canada co-operatives collection

Collection consists of records with information about individual co-operatives and credit unions in Atlantic Canada, as well as documents from larger region-wide co-operative organizations. There is also a large section of general co-operative literature about co-operation as a social movement, in Canada and around the world. There are published books, serials, brochures, reports, photographs and slides, maps, audio and visual material, and artifacts. The age of the materials ranges from the early 1900s up to 2002, the majority spans from the 1950s to the 1990s.

Collection consists of tools, artifacts, textiles, photographs, pencil sketches, pamphlets, posters, and a video cassette that were collected by Nova Scotia Agricultural College staff through their travels via partnerships with universities and organizations around the world up to the year 2000. Materials reflect agricultural and rural traditions from the areas they were collected in. The artifacts were collected from and photographs taken in Kenya, The Gambia, Ghana, Ethiopia, The Sudani, New Guinea, Angola, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, China, Czechoslovakia, Melanesia, Columbia, The Caribbean, and Jamaica.

Fonds consists of manuscripts and proofs of Budge Wilson's books and short stories; correspondence with publishers, students, and teachers; publicity material; photocopies and clippings of reviews, profiles, and notices regarding awards and appearances; diaries; recorded radio interviews; and an assortment of other documents created and collected by the author throughout her writing career. The fonds also contains materials relating to the adaptation of Wilson's novel "Before Green Gables" into a Japanese animated television series.

Item consists of a video by Douglas Waterman. An insert in the U-matic tape box describes the video as follows:

"A static electrical charge is generated by shuffling my clothed feet over an insulator, and by postponing contact with elements having characteristics which would operate as outlets for the charges being generated. The stored charge emits an electrical fields that draws the particles (ashes) toward it. A proportion of the charge from my hand jumps to the particles as the particles rise to and contact my hand. The particles have received an overcharge which opposes it to its source, so is driven back to its resting place. Dispersal time for the particles' energy is (approx. 10 sec.) allowing it to be activated again, initiating another cycle as the particles slowly spread out."

Dalhousie Medical School remembered

Item is a videocassette of compiled interviews with alumni for the series "Dalhousie Medical School Remembered." The interviewees include Dr. Stan Wainwright, Dr. John Szerb, Dr. James Hammerling, Dr. Jim Purvis, Dr. Edwin Ross, and twelve others. The interviews were conducted in the interviewees' homes, with a few exceptions. The interviews discuss each doctor's memories of attending or teaching at the School, how the School has changed, and impressions of how the medical field has changed over the years. The video was requested by Dr. T.J. Murray from the Dean's Office.

In the lecture, Hubert mentions that a future lecture will take place in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. The lecture was given as part of the Dalhousie Medical School curriculum.

Item is a videocassette of a guest lecture by Dr. Robert Cohen, who spoke as part of the Dalhousie Medical School's Friday at Four series. Friday at Four was a lecture series sponsored and organized by the School that focused on a variety of subjects by lecturers invited to speak about specialized areas of medicine. The lectures were held each Friday by the School from the 1970s to the 1990s. The tape was requested by Dr. MacDonald from the Department of Surgery.
