Fonds consists of records pertaining to the administrative, operational, financial, and artistic activities of the ASO. Included are materials documenting the Board of Directors, box office operations (including ticket sales), financial affairs, fundraising, general administration, guest artists, orchestra members, public relations and publicity, and the union. Also included is the photograph series which presents a visual record of various aspects of the orchestra's activities, including performances and women's auxiliary events as well as publicity shots of musicians, conductors, staff, and guest artists.
File contains an autographed photograph of Sir Ernest MacMillan, the conductor of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, in commemoration of a performance with Ellen Ballon of Heitor Villa-Lobos' first piano concerto.
File contains a photograph of Douglas Clarke (Dean of the Faculty of Music at McGill University from 1930 to 1955), Ellen Ballon, Frank Cyril James (Principal and Vice Chancellor of McGill University from 1939 until 1962), and an unknown man, standing in front of three microphones for radio stations: CKVL, CFCF, and CKAC. The photograph may have been taken at one of the concerts celebrating the 50th anniversary of the McGill Conservatorium.

File contains a photograph of "The Three Bares" sculpture (also known as the "Friendship Fountain"), which was given to McGill University by its creator, Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, as a show of goodwill between the United States and Canada. Ellen Ballon met Whitney while in New York and reportedly suggested the donation of the sculpture. It was presented to the university in 1931 by New York Times editor John Finley in 1931.
File contains correspondence and a certificate from the Secretary of the Board of Governors of McGill University regarding the proceeds from the Martlet Concert and Ball as well as Ellen Ballon's general support of the McGill music program.

File contains a student essay titled, "A Search for Collective Bargaining : The Nova Scotia Government Employees Association Experience," written in 1979 by Kevin Reilly for a course on Canadian working class history taught by Dr. Gregory S. Kealey. The essay documents the history of the Nova Scotia Government Employees Association's collective bargaining experience.
Fonds consists of correspondence, notes, briefs and reports, meeting minutes, financial records, circulars, photographs, and other records relating to the fishing and fish processing industry in Atlantic Canada and government regulations of the fisheries. Also included are similar types of records from sister organizations the Atlantic Fishing Vessel Association, Atlantic Fisheries By-Products Association, and Atlantic Queen Crab Association.

Fonds comprises documents illustrating the business interests of James Edward Dickie and his family. The majority of records date from James E. Dickie and his son Edwin's ownership of the Stewiacke general store, there is a single letter-book dated 1924, during which time James R. Fulton managed the store. Records fall into three main categories: business records related to companies owned by the Dickies; personal and business correspondence; and personal records of the Dickie family.
Fonds consists of correspondence, financial documents, journals and ledgers, legal documents, photographs, plans, printed material, and reports. This material spans almost 60 years and gives insight into a company which changed hands several times, and also represented an important part of Nova Scotia industry. Through the material one is able to get a complete picture of the process of manufacturing pulp, from acquiring timber and land to machinery and labour used, to exporting the end product; it also demonstrates how business was conducted. Fonds demonstrates the organizational structure, management, and operations of the Scott Paper company, and provide insight into business operations in Nova Scotia in the 20th century.
Fonds contains three product catalogues produced by the Acadia Gas Engine Company. The earliest dated catalogue was published in January, 1969 and another was published in 1973. One catalogue is undated.
The fonds consists mainly of general business correspondence and financial records recording the financial affairs of the business. The fonds also consist of legal records, mainly indentures and insurance policies for the business, sales and operations records and vessel records, which mainly consist of insurance policies, charter parties and protests. Also included in the fonds are records belonging to the Frieze family such as estate papers, and records from David Frieze's time as a justice if the peace for Hants County, along with electoral records and records belonging to the Maitland Presbyterian church, Sons of Temporance and Maitland school which both Frieze and Roy were involved in.
