Kevan); manuscript two is titled: "Experimental evidence of cold hardiness in the larvae of Gynaephora groenlandica (Wocke) (Lepidoptera:Lymantriidae)". Both manuscripts address the caterpillar's hardiness at Alexandra Fiord, Ellesmere Island. Kukal contributed a later draft of this research to the Freedman-edited "Ecology of a Polar Oasis".
