The diaries and notebooks document Rhoades’ activities while posted in the Yukon, South Africa, and Europe during World War I. Some of the notebooks also contain hand drawn maps of battle fields.

Entries include pencil drawings of animals and plants, newspaper clippings, as well as agricultural events around Nova Scotia from the NS Dept. of Agriculture annual reports. Scrapbooks also include pictures of Nova Scotia Agricultural College buildings, animal breeds, and events on campus. There are also annual reports of various departments of the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture, and transcripts for Garden Guide Radio from 1980-1998.
