Manuscripts

Series contains primarily typescript drafts of published and unpublished work by Lesley Choyce, including novels, non-fiction, short stories, essays, poetry and song lyrics. Files may include correspondence, notes and/or research materials.

Membership files

Series contains case files of the members of the Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia, as well as membership lists. Not every member has a case file. These membership files contain a large variety of records including biographical information, correspondence, manuscripts, and photographs.

The membership policy of the Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia is very broad. Anyone seriously interested in creative writing (including students and beginners) as well as accomplished professionals are eligible for membership in the Federation.

Subject files

The Subject Files series contains records regarding various issues of interest to the WFNS and its membership. These include censorship, copyright, GST, public lending rights, and other similar issues. The types of records included here are correspondence, newsletters, newspaper clippings, reports, resource materials, and other materials.

Committees and associations

Series consists of records from committees, associations, government advisory panels, and similar groups that Graham was a member of or served on a panel for. Types of records include reports, notes, comments, minutes, and annual reports from organizations such as the Atlantic Canada Economics Association, the Canadian Economics Council, the Royal Society of Canada, and Union of Nova Scotia Municipalities.

Personal records of John F. Graham

Series consists of Graham’s personal records that are not directly involved with his career and other work. Records include his curriculum vitae, a speech from the opening of the Abbie Lane Hospital, the obituary of William Russell Maxwell, and papers from Graham’s work with the United Nations prior to his career at Dalhousie.

Series consists of research materials collected by Graham. Topics consist of urban development, education, and the local, regional, and Canadian economy. Series also includes a copy of the New Democratic Party’s Waffle Manifesto.

Audio and video recordings of interviews and readings

File contains recordings of Budge Wilson's appearances, readings, and interviews. Many of the recordings were taped from her appearances on Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) radio. The series also includes a typescript of Budge Wilson's interview on CBC radio regarding the Swissair disaster on its one year anniversary.

Series includes contracts and programs from external agencies that rented Neptune’s premises for productions. Also included are materials concerning renovations, repairs and maintenance and materials pertaining to the New Neptune Theatre building, including proposals, manuals, committee materials, and plans.

Personal papers of David Renton

Series contains information about individual actors, Renton's administrative contributions to organizing the 1987 Canada Games and the 1990 World Figure Skating Championships, conferences and workshops, festivals and showcases, Neptune Theatre, Nova Scotia Drama League, Portus Theatre Productions, theatre companies and university theatre departments, and committees, associations, and unions to which Renton belonged. Also included are clippings and publications (primarily theatre- and film-related), financial records and grant applications, memorabilia, production-related materials, programs and invitations, school-related materials, and contracts, resumes, and awards.

Newspaper clippings and reviews

This series contains newspaper clippings and reviews pertaining to the various productions put on at Theatre 1707 as well as newspaper clippings pertaining to the theatre in general.

Posters

Series contains promotional posters for productions with which David Renton was associated. Series also contains two painted costume designs.

The Neptune Story

The series consists of correspondence relating both to research for and publication of the book, research notes, and interviews recorded on audio cassette regarding the history of Neptune Theatre, collected for the writing of The Neptune Story: Twenty-Five Years in the Life of a Leading Canadian Theatre ; photographs, messages, and tributes to Neptune Theatre included in the published work, can also be found here. As well, the series contains minutes of the meetings of the 25th Anniversary Committee of Neptune Theatre (of which Perkyns was a member), a draft copy of The Neptune Story , newspaper clippings, congratulatory notes, and a speech given at the book launch in 1989.

This series contains scripts both produced and considered for production by Upstart Theatre.

Financial records of Eyelevel Gallery

Series represents the financial activities of Eyelevel Gallery and reflects how the Gallery has obtained financial support from funding bodies at national, provincial, and municipal levels of government. Included are grant applications for operating assistance, exhibitions, publications, employment programs, financial statements, budgets, and documentation of fundraising activities.

Dalhousie Theatre Department administration

This series contains resource materials used for teaching. Types of records included here are scripts, videocassettes, audio cassettes, course exercises, and articles regarding theatre and theory.

For Better or For Worse

Series consists of records documenting the administrative, creative, financial, legal, production, and publicity and marketing activities of this project. This animated series for television presents a humourous, incisive, and endearing portrayal of a modern suburban family. It was based on Lyn Johnston's popular Canadian cartoon strip. The television series was co-produced by imX, broadcast by Teletoon, and consisted of sixteen episodes, each of which were eleven minutes in length. This series contains agreements, applications, cast and crew lists, correspondence, incorporation documents, press releases, production stills, scripts, schedules, a series outline, syndication histories, and video recordings.

House of Mirth

Series consists of records documenting the administrative activities of this project. The project was a potential feature in co-production with the South African Film Finance Corporation based on the Edith Wharton novel of the same name. This series contains the slate package.

Resource and reference material

While MOVE was active, the organization served as a reference and resource library which contained publications by activist groups across Canada, as well as the publications from MOVE's coalition member groups, which this series contains. In addition, the resource and reference material contains articles, instructional material (such as funding kits), bills and ordinances, newspaper clippings on current issues and MOVE, and informational material on pressing concerns such as environment, civil rights, women's' rights, poverty, housing, rent control, and nuclear energy.
