Walsh photographs of Nova Scotia Boy's and Girls Clubs and sheep and swine promotion

Subseries contains photographs taken and collected by Waldo Walsh of Nova Scotia Boy's and Girls Clubs in the early 1920s when Walsh was a professor of Animal Husbandry [at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College] and sheep and swine promoter. Subjects include Mabou, Pictou county, Annapolis (Lawrencetown) and Yarmouth. Lottie Austin and some Beaton's and Rankins may be in the Mabou pictures.

Subseries contains letters and cards written to their mother by Alex and Gertrude (Gussie) Leighton. The bulk of Gertrude's letters were written from boarding school in Kent while her mother lived in hotels nearby or with her family in Ireland. Alex wrote to his mother throughout her life; by the late 1940s he appears to treat his correspondence to her as a weekly journal. Letters to their dather are filed under

Dalhousie Arts Building

Subseries comprises records created or collected by the Office of the Architect and Facilities Management at Dalhousie University related to the design, construction and renovations/additions to an arts building at Dalhousie, which the administration called the Law (Temporarily Arts) Building. It was occupied by arts faculty until 1952, when it did briefly house the law school; in 1967 it became the Faculty Club, which is now known as the University Club. The third building on Studley Campus, it was a part of the original campus plan drawn up by Toronto architect Frank Darling in collaboration with Halifax-based architect Andrew R. Cobb and Dalhousie's governors. The subseries also includes drawings for a later building planned as an Arts Building, which was never constructed.
