The prospectus includes lesson costs per class for instruments, theory, history, and language. The file also includes John Daniel Logan's member's ticket for the 1912-1913 season of the Hambourg Concert Society (directed by Michael Hambourg, Jan Hambourg, and Boris Hambourg).

Programs from St. James's Hall

File contains two programs from a series of "Popular Concerts" on Saturday afternoons, directed by S. Arthur Chappell. Each of the programs includes musical excerpts and analytical remarks. The concerts featured a variety of performers, all conducted by Mr. Benedict. Performers included M.M. Joachim, L. Ries, Straus, Piatti, Miss. Carola, Arabella Goddard, Annie Edmonds, Henry Blagrove, Zerbini, Paque, Edith Wynne, and Clara Schumann. The programs are from the ninth and twelfth seasons at St. James's Hall in London, England.

Newspaper clippings concerning music

File contains copies of newspaper clippings that John Daniel Logan collected, mostly of concert reviews, including concerts that he attended. Many of the clippings do not include the date or name of the newspaper that he retrieved the review from.

File contains a book of poems, published by John Daniel Logan of the 85th Overseas Battalion, C.E.F., Nova Scotia Highland Brigade. The book was published by L. Clyde Davidson & Co. of Halifax, Nova Scotia and contains the following poems: "Invocation," "Insulters of Death," "Timor Mortis," "Sursum Corda," "Renouncement," "A Requiem," "The Greater Love," "For an only Son," "Poe of Princeton," "Flame of God (Rupert Brooke)," "The Soul's Supreme Adventure," and "Gone on Ahead Awhile." The book also includes a prose preachment entitled "The Fatal Paradox and Sin of Sorrow for the Dead."

Preludes : sonnets and other verses

File contains Logan's manuscript for "Preludes: Sonnets and Other Verses," dedicated to Elizabeth Gordon Logan. The manuscript includes "An Epistle in Criticism" and and essay, "The Rhythmical Dummy" in addition to 16 sonnets and 12 other poems. The sonnets are: "L'America et l'Avenir," "Sonata Tragica," "As a Wounded Bird," "Resignation," "In Honor of Homer," "To a Student," "Midnight in Dakota," "Apostate and Crowned," "Amor Mysticus," "Earth's True Lords," "To a Low Comedian," "Guide me as a Star," "Tenior Mundi," "Dei Philosophorum," "The Solitary," and "In Memoriam." The other poems include: "To Pallas: A Prayer," "Eros Athanatos," "An Incident of Lone Pine," "Said the Angler to the King," "The Men Behind the Guns," "The Secret," "If I were God," "De Mortuis," "Per Amica Silentia Lunae," "Renouncement," "Where Green Graves Lie," and "Mezzotints of Love."

The manuscript also includes press notices and critical reviews on Logan's "Sonnets."

Autographs of Clara Butt-Rumford and R. Kennerley Rumford

File contains the autographs for the Rumfords on a piece of stationary paper from Hotel Vancouver. Clara Butt-Rumford (1872-1936) was an English contralto and Kennerley Rumford (1870-1957) was an English baritone. They toured together throughout Europe and America following their marriage in 1900. This autograph was likely attained during their extended world tour (1912-1914), which encompassed Canada, the United States, and Australia.

File contains an autographed program for a concert by the Italian coloratura soprano Amelita Galli-Curci. In addition to her signature, there are several annotations in pencil for each piece on the program by J.D. Logan.

File contains an autographed program by the soprano Frieda Hempel. The program is for a concert that she gave with the Harvard Glee Club, conducted by Dr. Archibald T. Davison. The program includes pencil annotations by J.D. Logan. File also contains Logan's ticket stub from the concert.

File contains a booklet entitled "Tributes to F.H. Torrington," signed by Frederick Herbert Torrington (founder and conductor of various Toronto festivals, orchestras, choruses, and the Toronto College of Music). The booklet contains reprints of newspaper articles written about Torrington, a list of festivals in Toronto directed by Torrington, and a partial list of works performed in Toronto under his direction.

Subseries contains photographs of famous musicians, composers, and actors, many of which are autographed. The photographs were obtained by John Daniel Logan in his capacity as a concert reviewer and for his personal collection. Many of the photographs were sent by the musicians and actors at his request, as evidenced by his correspondence with them.

File contains a photograph of Harry Dean, a Canadian conductor, pianist, organist, and music educator. He is known for founding the Maritime Academy of Music and the Nova Scotia Registered Music Teachers' Association in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The letters were all written in response to correspondence from Logan on her performance in various plays. Three of the letters are written on letterhead from The Florence Glossop-Harris Company. The file also includes four postcards feature Glossop-Harris, which were sent to Logan.

File contains a letter from W.H. Greenwood, the Managing Director of The Toronto World newspaper, informing John Daniel Logan of his appointment to staff as Musical Critic.

File contains a letter from Daniel G. Mason of Columbia University concerning a poem that John Daniel Logan submitted for publication in the "New Music Review." The file includes the copy of the poem that Logan submitted, which is on the work of the composer Lowell Mason (1792-1872), Daniel G. Mason's grandfather. The file also includes a manuscript copy of a poem, possibly by Jean Grey, dated June 15, 1913.
