AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia [ACNS]

Series contains materials relating to the formation and operations of the AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia [ACNS], a non-profit advocacy organization for persons living with HIV/AIDS based in Halifax. ACNS was formed in 1996 via the merger of two pre-existing organizations, the Nova Scotia Persons With AIDS Coalition and AIDS Nova Scotia, and still operates today. Materials in subseries include administrative records such as meeting notices, minutes, and agendas; memos and correspondence; planning materials for ACNS events; proposals, research materials, and reference materials; and notes.

Social dynamics of economic performance : Innovation and creativity in city-regions

Subseries contains records produced as a result of Jill Grant's collaboration in the 2006–2012 Major Collaborative Research Initiative (MCRI). Led by David Wolfe (Munk Centre, University of Toronto), the project studied 16 Canadian cities to understand the factors that attract and keep talented and creative people, and to understand how the social dynamics of cities affect economic performance and innovation in city-regions.

Records include grant applications and reports, research ethics applications and reports, correspondence, notebooks, working papers, research data (interviews and surveys) and participant consent forms. Records related to research output (publications and presentations) are primarily found in the publications series.

Management and administration of the Census of Marine Life

Subseries contains records related to the management of the Census of Marine Life in general. File includes membership rolls, general budgeting information, Loan applications, meeting minutes, and CoML-related news and promotional information.

Bone Cage production records

Subseries contains records created for and during productions of Bone Cage by Mulgrave Road Theatre, Forerunner Playwrights' Theatre, and Downstage Theatre.

Before green gables

Subseries consists of handwritten and typescript drafts of Budge Wilson's prequel to L.M. Montgomery's series featuring Anne of Green Gables. Subseries also contains various research notes pertaining to the book.

Two Planks and a Passion Theatre programs and season brochures

Series contains programs, playbills, postcards and posters for productions produced by Two Planks and a Passion Theatre Company. Programs are a useful source of cast and crew information and images, and many of the programs and/or postcards for touring productions list performance dates and locations. Posters, playbills and postcards are generally undated; dates are attributed based on related records.

Board of Directors and Artistic Directors

Subseries contains minutes of board meetings, budgets, correspondence, receipts, and tax documents from the executive of the Upstream Music Association, including the Board of Directors and Artistic Directors. These records are not always separated; some files include two or more types of records, while others contain only minutes, or only receipts. Occasionally, files from the Artistic Directors also include information about concerts and season planning (e.g., repertoire of concerts, dates, and venues).

Correspondence

Subseries primarily contains correspondence between Bruce Oland and various organizations, clubs, and people whom he associated with. It also includes invitations, sympathy cards, greetings and thank-you letters, and personal vacations and trips.

Employers

Subseries contains collective agreements and related correspondence between IBEW Local 1928 and employers other than the Nova Scotia Power Corporation and Nova Scotia line construction contractors. These employers include Cablecom, Emera Utility Services, Eastech Limited, the Digby County Power Board, and Clare Electrical.

Learning from practice

Subseries contains records produced as a result of Jill Grant's research examining the challenges and opportunities for making new urbanism principles work, drawing on the experiences of Larry Beasley. The research was undertaken to support an article published in Journal of the American Planning Association, as part of a series interviewing practitioners.

Performance records

Subseries contains documents relating to the preparation, promotion, and execution of concerts hosted and/or performed by the Upstream Ensemble and Upstream Orchestra. Records include concert speaking notes, press releases, programs, photographs, a video recording, rehearsal schedules, American Foundation of Musicians (AFM) contracts, and box office records.

Fiction

Subseries contains documents related to short stories or other fiction written by Jenny Munday. The documents include drafts and notes for "Sisters : a Story for Younger Children"; "Somewhere Along the Road"; "Thursday's Child"; "The First Day of December"; "Sisters"; "History Lessons"; "The TTC, The Dragon Backed Beast"; "Riding The Double-Barreled Dragon Backed Beast"; and untitled poems.

Negotiations

Subseries consists of records relating to the establishment of and changes to collective agreements, primarily with Nova Scotia Power. IBEW Local 1928 also negotiated collective agreements with the Berwick Electrical Commission; the Towns of Antigonish, Liverpool, Lockeport, Shelburne; the Region of Queens; and the Municipality of Shelburne. Negotiations files for these towns and municipalities also contain correspondence, member lists, health and safety committee minutes, and grievance records.

IBEW Local 1928 membership records

Subseries consists of records regarding memberships, including membership lists, membership cards, correspondence with members, and reports by members.

Subseries also includes correspondence, reports, and membership lists specific to the Labour Pool, which was formed in 1993 through negotiations between IBEW Local 1928 and Nova Scotia Power. The Labour Pool began operation in 1996 and is a union-maintained list of IBEW Local 1928 members, managed by the Labour Pool Administrator and supplied to Nova Scotia Power for casual and term work on a rotating basis.
