New Brunswick extra-mural hospital research

Series comprises records created and collected by Murray Brown regarding his research into the New Brunswick Extra-Mural program, including several reports, presentations, committee records, correspondence, and data. There is also an unrelated file containing a 1971 report about New Brunswick's physician inventory.

Dalhousie related material

This series is material related to Dr. Murray's Dalhousie committee work it contains interviews related to the history of the Medical School with former faculty, correspondence, proposals for programme and courses and power point presentations.

Patient information

Series conists of records on patient and dispensary activities, prenatal cases, patient registers, and patient applications. The application forms include the patients' names, addresses, household earnings, and the reasons why they needed to use the services of the dispensary.

Jessie I. MacKnight : biographical and personal materials

Some of the materials in Duff's collection came from Jessie MacKnight's estate, while others were collected by Duff in preparation for writing articles about her. There was no indication of the source of the materials, so their original order has been maintained and grouped under this series.

Correspondence of Thomas Head Raddall

Series contains most of Raddall's correspondence, arranged alphabetically by correspondent; however, some correspondence relating to particular works or research topics can be found scattered throughout the collection. (All such instances are clearly labelled "correspondence" in the Series in which they occur.) Also included in the Correspondence Series are some publishers contracts and "Assignments of Copyright" when included as enclosures to letters, otherwise they appear along with the manuscripts and/or published versions of the works to which they pertain.

Correspondence with Margaret Martin appears in her collection (Dalhousie University Archives MS-2-227).

Letters sent to Raddall after his death have been collected together in a file called "Posthumously received letters," which appears at the end of this series.

Mining Papers

These files consist of maps, reports, correspondence, geological surveys and other information relating to mining. The primary focus is on the Styles Mining Company, of which John Rutherford was a shareholder.

Thomas Head Raddall's research notes

This series contains notes, memoirs, obituaries, and reminiscences by Raddall about many individuals; some excerpts make their way into his novels as anecdotes. Also included here are correspondence, sketches, photographs, notes, and research materials on a wide variety of topics of interest to THR including Sable Island, shipping, pulp operations, gold mining, Queen's County local history, Mi'kmaq culture, Nova Scotia aviation history, telegraph systems, trials, and Nova Scotia humour.

Personal papers and memorabilia

Series consists of minutes, correspondence and financial/legal documents related to the estate of cousin Florence Murray, academic grade books from Creighton's studies in Germany, newspaper clippings, poetry, post cards and family history records. Files are arranged alphabetically by title. Some materials are in German.

Wilfred Creighton photographs

Series consists of photographs created or collected by Creighton. Most photographs are related to logging and forestry in Nova Scotia between 1934-1944, but there are also photographs of Creighton and other forestry students in Europe; Creighton presenting a copy of his book to Gerry Andrews; and a photograph of the Dalhousie class of 1926 reunion in 1976. Photographs in this series have been removed to PC-2.

Unpublished Material of Guy Henson

The series consists of Guy Henson's unpublished material pertaining to problems of the Atlantic Provinces, public figures Joseph Howe, Moses M. Coady, and F.W. Walsh, match-play golf, Nova Scotia librarian Alberta Letts, labour management, and managerial elite.

Institutional and Organizational Material of Guy Henson

The series consists of correspondence and some other material Guy Henson generated through his professional and personal affiliations with a variety of bodies. Institutions and organizations include the Nova Scotia Premier's Office, the Canadian Legion Educational Service, the Nova Scotia Opera, the Nova Scotia Festival of the Arts, and the Institute of Public Affairs, Dalhousie University. The Nova Scotia Department of Education correspondence predominates.

Guy Henson 's photographs

The series consists of black and white photographs of R.J. Messenger's flower border and bowling green ( 1946), Guy Henson (1960), delegates at the I.C.C.E. Conference in Brighton, England (1975), the Panel of Exporters, Processors, Wholesalers, and Retailers taken at the Nova Scotia Fruit Growers Association (1961), an unidentified group, and the Columbia University Summer Class (1949).

Books and manuscripts

Series contains a published book inscribed by McCulloch and a manuscript of a paper written by McCulloch and submitted to the Geological Society.

Herbert Leslie Stewart's published and unpublished manuscripts

Series contains six sub-series based on the different genres and media for which Stewart wrote. There are some multiple copies of typescripts, but these contain distinct hand-written or typed amendments. The radio broadcast typescripts are largely bound and ordered chronologically. Those radio broadcast typescripts for the CBC's Coast-to-Coast program are also indexed alphabetically by subject matter on 3x5-inch cards.

Will R. Bird's scrapbooks

This series contains 56 large format scrapbooks compiled by Bird. Dates of material contained within the scrapbooks are wide ranging and the organization, idiosyncratic and haphazard. The scrapbooks contain newspaper clippings, programmes, playbills, invitations, correspondence, magazine clippings, photographs, birthday cards, obituaries, advertisements, published writings from pamphlets. Dates of materials within the scrapbooks (as far as can be discerned) are provided. When photographs or other salient features appear, they are noted. Also included in this series are two small boxes of index cards created by Bird to give more information about materials included in the scrapbooks.

Published Fiction of Will R. Bird

This series contains published fiction including 5 stories published in journals; 20 stories published in magazines; 8 stories published in newspapers; 8 hardcover first editions of novels; one published play; 12 stories published in the Spectator/Advertiser , an annual advertisement publication from Kentville Nova Scotia; 35 undated stories published in the Busy East most likely dating from between 1927 and 1932; 52 undated stories published in the Maritime Advocate and Busy East most dating from between 1933 and 1948; 6 stories appearing in Canadian War Stories ; and 34 stories published in The Legionary .

Books and Pamphlets of Guy Henson

Series consists of small books and pamphlets on education in Nova Scotia and the Atlantic Provinces which Guy Henson wrote. It also contains the correspondence arising from his published lecture to the Atlantic Regional Conference of the Canadian Association for Adult Education (1955-1957). There are annual reports from the Nova Scotia Department of Education's Adult Education Division (1946-1955) and publications issued by the Institute of Public Affairs, Dalhousie University (1963 and 1970).

Addresses of Guy Henson

Series consists of Guy Henson's notes, drafts, research material, newspaper clippings, and some memorabilia for the numerous addresses he gave throughout his professional career. His audiences were diverse, and included service clubs, school associations, provincial federations and associations, and women's institutes.

Community Planning Association of Canada, Nova Scotia Division committee records and reports

Series contains minutes and agendas for meetings of the CPAC NS Executive Committee as well as program proposals, requests for funding and program budget documents produced by the Program Committee for submission to CPAC national office, the Central Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and the Minister of State for Urban Affairs (MSUA).

Resource centre library of the Ecology Action Centre

Series consists of reference material from the Ecology Action Centre's resource centre library. Series includes books, pamphlets, newsletters, fact sheets and similar types of reference material created and collected by the Ecology Action Centre. Materials cover subjects such as parks and green spaces, species at risk, pesticide spraying, climate change, pollution, composting, recycling, and energy sources including nuclear, tidal power, oil, and gas.

External committees and associations

Series contains material from committees that MOVE participated in but were not founded by MOVE. The committees include the Downtown Committee, Drug Committee, Municipal Development Planning Committee (MDPC), Regional Government Committee, Neighborhood Planning Committee, Metropolitan Area Planning Committee (MAPC), Neighborhood Housing Association (NHA), Committee of Regional Social Planning, Dartmouth Association of Community, Save the Lakes Committee, and Housing Task Force.

Manuscripts of Roscoe Alfred Fillmore

Series consists of non-fiction, fiction, and poetry manuscripts and typescripts written by Roscoe Fillmore. It also contains a published copy of The Growing Question, a gardening book published by Fillmore in 1957.

Annual reports

Series consists of official reports presented annually to the membership. In addition to the president's annual report, files may include financial and committee reports (drafts and final copies), copies of JUSUN, meeting minutes, project summaries, and membership and donor lists and contact information. Reports for 1983-1986 are missing.
