AquaNet

Series consists of records created and collected by Richard Apostle in the course of his aquaculture research conducted under the auspices of AquaNet: Network of Centres of Excellence in Aquaculture, which was an NSERC-funded grant of 10.9 million dollars for which Richard Apostle was a co-investigator through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. The two projects on which he worked were “The Institutional and Social Structure of Aquaculture: A Comparative Study,” with Gene Barrett and John Phyne, and “The Social Construction of Environmental Risk and Benefits: Risk to Whom? Benefits to Whom?”, with Ralph Matthews, Susan Elliot, Brian Elliot and John Phyne.

The file includes the program for the festival, Pugh's program notes, and correspondence between Robert Kortgaard from the Centre for Musical Arts, University of New Brunswick and the Erich Wolfgang Korngold Society, and Kortgaard and Cambria Master Recordings and Publishing. Kortgaard was the Director of the Music Festival.

Panel discussion on humanitarian intervention and state sovereignty with David Gillies, Jani Maston, and Tim Shaw

File is an audio reel containing a recording of a panel discussion on humanitarian intervention and state sovereignty, held at the Dalhousie Law School. The recording is in three parts. In part 1 (7 min., 37 sec.), David Gillies, the policy coordinator for the International Centre for Human Rights in Ottawa, spoke about government policy towards humanitarian intervention. In part 2 (8 min., 18 sec.), Jani Maston spoke about her experiences as a relief worker in Somalia and the operations of the United Nations peacekeeping force there. In part 3 (14 min., 13 sec.), Tim Shaw, professors of political science at Dalhousie University, spoke about the political and economic issues involved in the intervention in Somalia and the former Yugoslavia. The panel discussion was recorded March 11, 1993 and aired March 19, 1993 on The Evening Affair, CKDU's evening public affairs program. It was rebroadcast December 9, 1996 on The Evening Affair.
