Body language

Item consists of an audio recording entitled "Body Language" which was a part of Broadcasting for Reels, that happened on CKDU 97.5 FM on January 18. The recording features: Side 1: When I speak (8:10); Blood Line (3:20); Speaking of a Girl (1:26); the Musical Mouth (2:09). Side 2: Bland (1:01); Just as You’re About to (2:55); Pardessus le Marche (4:35); Gossip excerpt (2:05). The tape is described as: "Broadcasting for Reels is a celebration of audio art. The series is produced in collaboration between CKDU 97.5FM and CFAT. We want to encourage non-audio artists and audio artists alike to make audio creations. We hope that Broad casting for Reels will free minds and encourage more people to appreciate audio art interspersed with other sound genres that are heard on radio."

Item consists of an audio recording entitled "Media Distortion" which was a part of the Broadcasting for Reels series. The tape features: Side 1: "It’s the End of the world and it’s on tv" (5 min., 3 sec.), "Smokey and the paper tiger (4 min., 42 sec.), "There’s something in my ear, there’s somethig in my eye" (3 min., 55 sec.), "Talk talk talk" (3 min., 40 sec.), "Take Back the Waves" (5 min., 6 sec.), and Side 2: "Reefer-end-um" (15 min., 5 sec.), "The television said “love me”" (2 min., 23 sec.), "Breaker - Breaker" (4 min., 3 sec.) and "Global Gamelan" (58 sec.).

Neighbourhood noise

Item contains seven contributions to the Neighbourhood Noise Project, presented by CKDU Radio, the Nova Scotia Public Interest Research Group (PIRG), and Centre for Art Tapes. The contributions are all written, produced, and performed by Canadian subjects. The project was released as part of the People's Summit (P-7) event staged in Halifax, Nova Scotia during the G-7 Summit. The project invited people to submit audio-taped works on the subject of community and neighbourhoods and were compiled into a tape to play at the 00 Gallery in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
