Letter of support for Dr. Daniel Cobb Harvey from Archibald McKellar MacMechan to Edwin Laftus

Item is three sheets of paper. The first sheet is folded to make two additional pages. The letter is Archibald MacMechan's recommendation to Edwin Laftus, that Daniel Harvey should receive the position of lecturer in History at Dalhousie University. A P.S. note by MacMechan also recommends an article that Harvey wrote for the Rhodes Foundation.

Ruth Goodman's Dalhousie University student scrapbook

Item is a scrapbook assembled by Ruth Marilyn (Goodman) Pink while she was a student at Dalhousie University. The scrapbook contains dance cards with attached pencils; schedules and memorabilia from freshman initiation; dinner napkins, place cards and menus; ticket stubs and programs from Dalhousie Glee Club and other events; small metal charms and other ephemera; and envelopes containing remnants of dried flowers. There are also photographs of Goodman's university friends; her room in Shirreff Hall; Dalhousie campus; and vacations.

Ruth Goodman's Dalhousie University graduation scrapbook

File contains a scrapbook assembled by Ruth Marilyn (Goodman) Pink commemorating events from her graduation from Dalhousie University and a few years after. The scrapbook contains programs from Dalhousie Glee Club and other musical performances; a 1936 Dalhousie convocation program; congratulatory telegrams and greeting cards sent to Goodman; remnants of dried flowers; dance cards; place cards with attached pencils; menus; a Valentine card and other greeting cards. There are also photographs of Ruth Goodman; Rose Goodman; Jeanette Goodman; members of the Class of 1936; unidentified family and friends; White Point Beach; the Annapolis Valley; Pictou Lodge; and Sydney. A copy of Alice Simensky's obituary (1918-2015) is tucked into the back of the scrapbook.

The Dalhousian, Volume 1, Issue 4

Item is Volume 1, Issue 4 of "The Dalhousian," a newspaper published by students of Dalhousie University as part of a fundraising campaign for a new students' building. The issue features a photograph of and an article about D. MacGillivray, the manager of the Canadian Bank of Commerce, who was elected treasurer by the student body.

Dalhousie University Bulletin: Inauguration number

Item consists of two copies of the Dalhousie University Bulletin, Inauguration Number 4, from the inauguration of Carleton W. Stanley as president of Dalhousie University. The bulletin contains the program of the event, a photograph of Stanley, transcriptions of addresses given at the event, and a list of delegates from other universities.

Item is the Dalhousie Alumni Magazine, Volume 1, Number 2, published in Winter 1985. The issue is a special issue about Women at Dalhousie in honour of the Dalhousie women's centennial and includes an article about Margaret Florence Newcombe, the first woman to graduate from Dalhousie.
