Gay and Lesbian Association [GALA] posters, banners and flags

Series includes posters, banners and flags created or collected by the Gay and Lesbian Association (GALA) for various events. Series is divided into two subseries; one subseries of posters and negatives of posters for events held at Rumours, a bar owned and operated by GALA; and one subseries of banners and flags used during Pride marches, demonstrations, and GALA meetings.

Awards and distinctions

Series contains honours and distinctions awarded to Janet Conners in recognition of her involvement in the Royal Commission of Inquiry on the Blood System in Canada [the Krever Inquiry], and her subsequent advocacy work for persons living with HIV/AIDS. Materials include honorary degrees, awards, fellowships, and other distinctions, as well as associated programs, invitations, and forms.

LGBT pins and apparel

Series contains pins and other apparel produced for LGBT events such as Halifax pride, or featuring pro-LGBT messages. Items in this series were collected and worn by members of Lesbian and Gay Rights Nova Scotia [LGRNS].

Halifax Pride committee records and ephemera

Series contains records relating to Ross Boutilier's involvement in the organization of the Halifax Pride parade, including committee records, financial records, reports, meeting minutes, correspondence, notes, memos, schedules, parade and Pride Guide planning materials, advertisements and press releases, and posters and pins worn or collected during Halifax Pride parades.

The Bill Lynch Shows administrative records

Series contains various administrative documents used to run the Bill Lynch Shows. Materials include letterhead, Greater Exposition Shows contract forms (blank), railway passes, commercial scripts, blueprints, and photographs.

Objects and wearable ephemera

Series contains pins, stickers, one tote bag, one bracelet, and one air freshener collected by Al Stewart through his involvement with the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union [NSGEU] and various LGBT community groups and events, including Affirm United, the TightRope leather brotherhood, Mr. Atlantic Canada Leather [MACLeather] contests, and Halifax Pride.

Wearable ephemera

Series contains duplicates of wearable ephemera from fonds in the Nova Scotia LGBT Seniors Archive. Materials in series including buttons and pins, badges, medals, clothing, and other regalia related to or worn during Halifax Pride parades, political demonstrations organized by Lesbian and Gay Rights Nova Scotia [LGRNS] and other groups, Mr. Atlantic Canada Leather [M.A.C. Leather] contests, and other LGBT causes and events.

Henry Hicks' military records

Series comprises records created and collected by Henry Hicks during his World War Two service in the Royal Canadian Artillery as a radar specialist. The bulk of the records are training and service manuals and confidential reports about radar trials.

Henry Hicks' Oxford University records

Series comprises records created and collected by Henry Hicks during his studies in law at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. Records include typewritten, perfect bound volumes of detailed notes about specific subjects and lectures, which were either created or acquired by Hicks. There is also a boat race programme and a 1939 food ration book.
