Nova Scotia Deptartment of Agriculture fonds

This fonds contains Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Marketing scrapbooks of agricultural activity in Nova Scotia from 1900 to 1949. Entries include pencil drawings of animals and plants, newspaper clippings, pictures of Nova Scotia Agricultural College buildings, animal breeds, and events on campus as well as agricultural events around Nova Scotia from the NS Dept. of Agriculture annual reports.

Fonds also contains the policies of Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Marketing in 1996 and correspondence from department staff from 1907 and 1972.

National Farm Radio Forum fonds

This fonds contains records about the National Radio Farm Forum, including the operations of the Nova Scotia and New Brunswick regions. Records consists of pamphlets, correspondence, memos, guides, annual reports and minutes from the regional and national meetings and conferences, 2 booklets, and an account of the activity of the Earltown, Nova Scotia Farm Forum Radio Group from the period of 1961-1962. Some of the records were created and collected by Longly and C.A. Douglas, as well as regional secretary Rosemary Campbell. It was a national rural listening-discussion group project sponsored by the Canadian Association for Adult Education, the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and CBC. Initially, this program was a dramatized discussion of farm problems in wartime, arranged in cooperation with the Canadian Federation of Agriculture, and the Canadian Association for Adult Education. Eventually, it evolved into discussions by individuals from various communities across the country. Letter to JK MacDonald

This file contains 1 textual record of a 38 page draft letter on legal size loose-leaf paper. This was written by JP Landry to the Honorable J.K MacDonald, then Minister of Agriculture of Nova Scotia, on January 12, 1938. While most of the draft is handwritten, it includes a 2 page print report for the Antigonish C. Poultry Association in 1936.

Herbert F MacRae fonds

This fonds contains Dr. Herbert Farquhar MacRae’s obituary and tribute articles dedicated to the former Nova Scotia Agricultural College principal in June 2002. Additionally, the fonds contains a plaque naming the NSAC library in his honour in 1990 and a letter between Herbert F. MacRae and Layman T. Chapman from 1974.

Correspondences

This sub-series includes published and unpublished papers, correspondence to and from Fred Sears between 1905-1907 while he was Professor of Horticulture at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College from 1905-1907.
