Fonds consists of records pertaining to the administrative, operational, financial, and artistic activities of the ASO. Included are materials documenting the Board of Directors, box office operations (including ticket sales), financial affairs, fundraising, general administration, guest artists, orchestra members, public relations and publicity, and the union. Also included is the photograph series which presents a visual record of various aspects of the orchestra's activities, including performances and women's auxiliary events as well as publicity shots of musicians, conductors, staff, and guest artists.

File contains an autographed program for a concert sponsored by the Halifax Community Concert Association at Capitol Theatre. Mischa Elman was accompanied by Carroll Hollister on the piano.

Brahms German requiem

File contains a program and advertisement for a concert by Symphony Nova Scotia, conducted by Georg Tintner, in collaboration with the First Baptist Church Choir, directed by David MacDonald; Georgian Singers of Halifax, directed by Dr. Walter Kemp; Halifax Camerata Singers, directed by Jeff Joudrey; and Truro Cantabile Singers, directed by Jeff Joudrey. The file also contains a translation for the text of Brahms' German Requiem, Op. 45 and two newspaper reviews of the concert. The concert also included a performance of Peter Lieberson's Viola Concerto No. 1, featuring Steven Dann as the soloist.

Budge Wilson's tributes to Margaret Laurence

File contains a copy of Budge Wilson's memorial talk for Margaret Laurence, delivered at Trent University on February 2, 1987 and later published in the Canadian Woman Studies journal. The file also contains a copy of the program from Wilson's memorial tribute and a copy of an article on Budge Wilson's address at the Halifax Main Library on Margaret Laurence.

CBC information morning

This fonds consists of records created and collected by both the Canadian Puppet Festival and the Chester Theatre Council related to the management of the Chester Playhouse, including financial records such as statements, budgets, balance sheets, and invoices; press releases; photocopies of reviews; advertising and marketing records; personnel files; construction and maintenance records; meeting minutes and agendas; reports such as attendance records and box office sales; grant applications and fundraising files; correspondence; and event files, including programmes, tickets, and other promotional materials.

Columbia project

This sub-series contains records that were created and used in the partnership project with the Nova Scotia Agricultural College and the Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander (Columbia) in the development of a Training Program in Sustainable Agriculture at UFPS both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The program ran between 1997 and 2002. The Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander (UFPS) has been asked to play a key role in “El Salto Social”, the social leap forward, in the Santander region of Colombia. New curricula will be introduced at UFPS, faculty will be upgraded and new extension and outreach programs established with the assistance of NSAC through this project. Other project partners are the Universidad de la Republica Uruguay (URU) of Uruguay and Saint Mary’s University (SMU). This is an Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) University Program for Cooperation in Development (UPCD) Tier 2 project led by NSAC.
