File contains correspondence regarding the the initial construction and later repairs to the ferry boat Joseph Howe, which was Roue's design no.137. Built in Shelburne in 1938 and equipped with life-saving gear, life boats and fire equipment, it served passengers between Cape Sable Island and Barrington Passage.
