Biographical history

An extremely well-known Austrian composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's output include symphonies, concertos, chamber music, and operas. Born on January 27, 1756 in Salzburg, Austria, he toured Europe extensively with his sister, Nannerl, as a child prodigy under the tutelage of their father, Leopold Mozart. He quickly gained fame as a pianist and composer and spent time in Salzburg, Italy, Paris, and Vienna. He died in Vienna on December 5, 1791.

File contains a first edition publication of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23, including the solo piano part and parts for each orchestral instrument (violins, horn, viola, cello, double bass, bassoon, flute, clarinet). The edition was published by J. André of Offenbach.

The front cover of the piano part bears the names of Clara Schumann and Theodor Avé-Lallemant, dated January 25, 1861. Two descriptive cards are also included indicating that the publication previously belonged to Clara Schumann.
