League of Nations

File contains materials created as a result of Mercer's involvement with the League of Nations Society of Canada. File includes offprints, personal and business correspondence, membership lists, and meeting minutes. Correspondence involves the establishment of a Youth Branch and a Women's Organization in 1935. File also contains an issue of the League of Nations Society in Canada Monthly News Sheet (Vol. VI, Nos. 2 and 3).

Prisoners' welfare

File contains materials created as a result of Mercer's involvement with various prisoners' welfare associations, including the The Canadian Prisoners' Welfare Association, the Prisoners' Aid and Welfare Association of Montréal, and the Penal Association of Canada. File also contains a report on county jails in Nova Scotia by John Kidman, Hon. Secretary C.P.W.A. and C.H. Mercer, President of the Prisoners' Welfare Association in Halifax. File also contains two Macleans' articles (May and Ocober 1933) on Christianity in prisons and a portrayal of the treatment of a Black prisoner.

Radio broadcasting in foreign languages

File includes pamphlets and correspondence regarding broadcasting in various languages. Materials reference the use of radio broadcasting for the teaching of languages and education. File also includes one page of a German examination from the Central Foundation Boys' School, dated 1911.
