Records consist mainly of correspondence between Michael P. Ney (Rothman's of Pall Mall Canada Ltd.) and staff of Dalhousie Art Gallery, condition report, newspaper clippings, press lists, biography, lists of artworks, and shipping receipts. The file also contains the typescript of a short story entitled "My Heroine, Murphy Brown," by Budge Wilson (undated), which was included in the anthology "Friendships" (2006).

Abels, Lydia

File contains two pieces of correspondence, dated January 1973, sent to Kenneth Leslie by Lydia Abels (Mrs Alexander Hamilton Abels), from Boston, Massachusetts. The first piece of correspondence, dated January 5th, discusses Lydia's declining health. The second piece of correspondence, dated January 8th, mentions Lydia's excitement about receiving a copy of Kenneth Leslie's recent anthology of poems, and how the package "looked exactly like your old Protestant" when it arrived.

Acadia University speaking engagements

File contains materials relating to Nova Scotia Rainbow Action Project speaking engagements at Acadia University. Materials include cue cards and speaking notes, two copies of the syllabus for Sociology 380X1 Lesbian and Gay Studies from the Winter 2004 and Winter 2006 semesters, related correspondence dated 2007, and notes.

Series contains records pertaining to the management of the Halifax Camerata Singers, including financial records, correspondence, minutes from meetings of the Board of Directors, and records relating to the plans for each concert season. The records are organized by concert season, starting with the inception of the Camerata Singers in 1986-1987.

Administrative, reference, and promotional materials for Affirm United and St John's United Church

Series contains materials collected as part of Stewart's LGBT advocacy at St John's United Church in Halifax, and his subsequent involvement with Affirm United, an advocacy organization founded in 1982 that supports LGBTQ members of the United Church of Canada. Stewart was involved in the process of achieving Affirmed status for St John's United Church through the Affirming Ministries Program. Series contains articles, essays, and pamphlets regarding homosexuality and religion; informational documents associated with Affirm United and the Affirmation Congregation Program; manuals and other reference materials relating to the operation of Affirmed congregations; correspondence; issues of Consensus, the Affirm United newsletter; and issues of Open Hands, a journal published by Affirmations: United Methodists for Lesbian/Gay Concerns.

Adolf Born exhibition

File consists of records related to the Adolf Born exhibition, held at Dalhousie Art Gallery from August 29 to September 29, 1974.

AIDS-LINK draft proposal materials

File contains a draft copy of a document outlining what AIDS-LINK is and who they serve, handwritten notes, a final draft of the mission vision statement, a copy of AIDS community action program funding guidelines, pamphlets for CARAS, a press release, and correspondence.

AIDS-Link records

Series contains materials related to AIDS-LINK, a volunteer-based project operated by CARAS to institute interfaith pastoral services for persons living with HIV/AIDS. The project was launched in 1996 and ceased operations in the early 2000s.

Fonds contains materials collected by Al Stewart as part of his involvement in the Maritime leather community, his LGBT advocacy work at Saint John's United Church in Halifax, and his involvement in the broader LGBT community in Nova Scotia. Leather community records document the activities of the TightRope leather brotherhood, Mr. Atlantic Canada Leather [MACLeather] contests, and other leather groups across Canada and the United States. Materials include administrative records, photographs, promotional materials, correspondence, newsletters, and catalogues. United Church materials primarily relate to Stewart's efforts to attain Affirmed status for St. John's United Church, and include reference materials, correspondence, and newsletters. Fonds also contains objects and ephemera related to the leather community, Affirm, and Stewart's membership in the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union [NSGEU], as well as personal photographs, correspondence, and LGBT publications.

Alan Creighton fonds

Fonds includes Alan Creighton's diaries, which cover many of the years from 1920 to 2000. Writings from the period 1920 to 1954 (many undated) are mainly short stories and poems. These writings include handwritten and typed, complete and incomplete, and published and unpublished works. There is also some correspondence throughout as well as copies of his two books of poetry. The fonds includes writings with titles such as "About Poetry," "Poetry Courses," "Thoughts," "Music & Art," and "Bedford Basin." His notebooks include evidence of a variety of courses taken, including French and Greek, music, poetry, and art (both practice and history, including Chinese art). There is also a record of his art sales from 1964 to 1999. Personal and family documents are included in the fonds.

Alan Creighton's artwork is extensive and primarily in the form of sketches and watercolours, with a few oil paintings. Many of his sketches are in albums, many of which are used exclusively for one particular aspect of his studies. For example, album labels include "People," "Trees," "Skies," "Rock Formations," "Buildings," "Railway Sketches" (scenes from train journeys), and "Outdoors." Others identify a place and time and include such labels as "At the Zoo," "Nova Scotian Sketches 1951," "South Shore 1982," and "Toronto 1996." Still others contain a mixture of styles and themes. There are also numerous loose sketches and watercolours which have been loosely arranged into similar groupings such as "Clouds," "Boats," "Flowers," and so forth. Photograph albums include photos of family and of scenes taken by Alan as a reference for future paintings.

Included with Alan Creighton’s personal items are papers, writings, art, and memorabilia belonging to his friend and roommate Christine Eyles, who died without heirs. Some relate to her employment as a violinist in England and in Toronto, Ontario and some contain her poetry, plays, and artwork (in sketchbooks and on loose paper). Published and handwritten music scores, mostly for the violin, are also included. A photograph album contains many formal portraits of family and friends taken in England in the early 20th century. Records also include papers by and about her father, Charles Eyles, a famous violin-maker. Such materials include advertisements, brochures, and letters attesting to the high quality of his craftsmanship.

This fonds consists of records which document the personal and business activities and interests of Alfred Dickie and, to a lesser extent, those of his immediate family and employees. Although the records span Dickie’s lifetime, few relate to his childhood, education, or final two years of life. Some items, in particular those concerning his export lumber business or his travels, derive from various places in North and South America, the Caribbean, Europe, and South Africa, though by far the majority are found to be located within Nova Scotia.

The fonds includes correspondence, business and administrative records, speeches, photographs, legal documents, and plans, among other materials. Records are chiefly in English, although a very small portion are in French, Norwegian, Finnish, Spanish, and Italian.
