Biographical history

Dr. Weld was born in Vancouver in 1899 and was educated at the University of British Columbia (B.A., M.A.) and at the University of Toronto (M.D.). He also served in the Canadian Armed Forces and fought in the First World War.

In 1936, he relocated to Halifax and joined the staff of the Dalhousie Faculty of Medicine as Professor of Physiology, a position he held until 1965. He continued to teach in other capacities at Dalhousie until 1969 and was awarded an honorary degree in 1970.

Dr. Weld was a researcher and published some ninety-five papers in his lifetime. He was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 1960 and was actively involved in community organizations and professional associations. Dr. Weld passed away in 1991.

Custodial history

Accession 1984-94. The records were donated by Dr. C.B. Weld in 1984.

Fonds consists of manuscripts written by Dr. Weld along with photographs, correspondence, and papers related to community organizations.
