Parrott, Hayward

Hayward Parrott is a recording engineer, sound designer, and producer. Parrott began his career at RCA Records in Toronto, Ontario. He became chief engineer at Manta Sound and, in 1985, became vice-president and general manager of McClear Place Studios. Parrott formed "Hands On Productions Music House" in partnership with Eric Robertson and Larry Trudel.

In May 1993, Parrott and his family moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he became a partner in Solar Audio Recording Studio with Bob Quinn and Russell Brannon. As vice-president and general manager of the studio, Parrott helped Solar Audio refit one of its rooms into a successful audio post production facility.

Hayward has received more than 35 Gold and Platinum records and a number of Juno, Gemini, ECMA, MIANS and Ampac awards and nominations.

MacDonald, Dougie

Dougie MacDonald, born 1968, was a fiddler who grew up in the Queensville, Inverness County area of Cape Breton [Nova Scotia], and was inspired by the famous fiddler-composer Dan Hughie MacEachern who was a neighbour, mentor, and close family friend. Over the years, Dougie released four albums and published a book of original fiddle tunes and also recorded songs at Solar Audio & Recording Limited in the late 1980s. His music travelled internationally and his compositions have been played by such notables as Jerry Holland, Sharon Shannon, Howie MacDonald, The Barra MacNeils, Solas, Rodney Miller, Otis Tomas, Liz Doherty and Máire O'Keeffe. Though not a full time professional musician, Dougie did have the opportunity to perform in Ireland, Scotland, Canada and the U.S. and participated in events such as the annual Celtic Colours International Festival and the annual Broad Cove Concert. Sadly, in the last week of 2009, between Christmas and the New Year, MacDonald died in a car accident. He was only 41 years old.

Minglewood Band.

The Matt Minglewood Band is a four member band performing in the genres of blues and country, as well as rock. By his early twenties, Matt Minglewood went on to join a band entitled Sam Moon, Matt Minglewood & the Universal Power. This band soon evolved into the Moon Minglewood Band. They toured the country extensively and, by the middle 1970s, they morphed into the Minglewood Band and recorded their first album, ‘The Red Album’, in 1976. A recording contract with RCA Records soon followed.
